Having a Mass offered for an intention

Mass Intentions 1When a request is made for a Mass to be offered for a specific intention, it is a good and pious custom for the faithful to make an offering, usually about £5 – £10, which goes towards the upkeep of the parish clergy and forms part of the small annual allowance that they receive. The offering (which varies according to the generosity of the person) does not buy a Mass!  Masses are not for sale. There is no such thing as “my Mass.”  The offering is a gesture of generosity to the priest and the parish for his upkeep. We hope this offers some clarification.
